When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come to pass: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”
54. Then shall be brought to pass the saying This is not merely an amplification, (ἐπεξεργασία,) “Vne declaration ou amplification;” — “A declaration or amplification.” but a confirmation, too, of the preceding statement. To confirm what he had said of this change, I. He here tells them what had been concealed from or unknown to them till then - that all the saints would not die, but all would be changed. Those that are alive at our Lord's coming will be caught up into the clouds, without dying, Th1 4:11.
