Here is, I. Solomon's great prosperity, Ch2 1:1. Though he had a contested title, yet, God being with him, he was strengthened in his kingdom; his heart and hands were strengthened, and his interest in the people. God's presence will be our strength. II. His great piety and devotion.

Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, [that is so] great? (f) That I may govern this people, .
2Ch 1:7-10 The theophany, cf. 1Ki 3:5-15. In that night, i.e., on the night succeeding the day of the sacrifice. The appearance of God by night points to a dream, and in 1Ki 3:5-15 we are expressly informed that He appeared in a vision. Solomon’s address to God, 2Ch 1:8-10, is in 1Ki 3:6-10 given more at length.
