There was a chamber with a doorway by the portico in each of the inner gateways. There the burnt offering was to be washed.
In these verses we have a delineation of the inner court. The survey of the outer court ended with the south side of it. This of the inner court begins with the south side (Eze 40:27), proceeds to the east (Eze 40:32), and so to the north (Eze 40:35); for here is no gate either of the outer or inner court towards the west.

chambers . . . entries--literally, "a chamber and its door." by the posts--that is, at or close by the posts or columns. where they washed the burnt offering--This does not apply to all the gates but only to the north gate.
