Luke
Luke 20:18BSB·traditional attribution

Everyone who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, but he on whom it falls will be crushed.”

Matthew Henry Presbyterian @wholebiblehenry

Christ spoke this parable against those who were resolved not to own his authority, though the evidence of it was ever so full and convincing; and it comes very seasonably to show that by questioning his authority they forfeited their own. Their disowning the lord of their vineyard was a defeasance of their lease of the vineyard, and giving up of all their title. I.

And they watched him,.... What he said, and what he did, and where he went, that they might take an advantage against him, or know where he was, to send to him, as they should think fit, and take the best opportunity of so doing.
