In these verses we have, I. Christ's eating the passover with his disciples, the night before he died, with the joys and comforts of which ordinance he prepared himself for his approaching sorrows, the full prospect of which did not indispose him for that solemnity.

Verse 14. The goodman of the house. This signifies simply the master of the house. The original word expresses nothing respecting his character, whether it was good or bad. The guestchamber. A chamber for guests or friends--an unoccupied room. (f) "Master saith" (g) "shall eat"
