John Mark
Mark 15:10BSB·traditional attribution

For he knew it was out of envy that the chief priests had handed Jesus over.

Matthew Henry Presbyterian @wholebiblehenry

Here we have, I. A consultation held by the great Sanhedrim for the effectual prosecution of our Lord Jesus. They met early in the morning about it, and went into a grand committee, to find out ways and means to get him put to death; they lost no time, but followed their blow in good earnest, lest there should be an uproar among the people.

Commenting on Mark 15:1-14

John Gill Reformed Baptist @doctorgill

For he knew that the chief priests,.... The Persic version reads in the singular, "the chief of the priests", or the high priest, Caiaphas, had delivered him for envy; at his popularity through his doctrine and miracles, and not from any principle of equity and justice, or from any regard to Caesar; See Gill on Mat 27:18.
