Matthew
Matthew 13:58BSB·traditional attribution

And He did not do many miracles there, because of their unbelief.

John Calvin Reformed @genevareformer

58. And he did not perform many miracles in that place. Mark states it more emphatically, that he could not perform any miracle. But they are perfectly agreed as to the substance of what is said, that it was the impiety of Christ’s countrymen that closed the door against the performance of a greater number of miracles among them.

Matthew Henry Presbyterian @wholebiblehenry

We have here Christ in his own country. He went about doing good, yet left not any place till he had finished his testimony there at that time. His own countrymen had rejected him once, yet he came to them again. Note, Christ does not take refusers at their first word, but repeats his offers to those who have often repulsed them.

Commenting on Matthew 13:53-58

Verse 58. Did not many mighty works. Miracles. This implies that he performed some miracles. Mark tells us what they were. He laid his hands on a few sick folk, and healed them. Because of their unbelief. That is, it would have been useless to the great purposes of his mission to have worked miracles there.
