They will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads.
The heavenly state which was before described as a city, and called the new Jerusalem, is here described as a paradise, alluding to the earthly paradise which was lost by the sin of the first Adam; here is another paradise restored by the second Adam. A paradise in a city, or a whole city in a paradise!
Commenting on Revelation 22:1-5
And they shall see his face,.... The face of God, so as he is not to be seen now; they shall see him as he is; not only the angels, who always behold the face of God, but all the saints, risen and changed, being pure in heart, and perfectly holy; they shall see him face to face, they shall have intimate and familiar communion...
Verse 4. And they shall see his face. . They would be constantly in his presence, and be permitted continually to behold his glory. And his name shall be in their foreheads. They shall be designated as his. ; ; . (g) "And they shall" (h) "his name"
