We have here an account of the brass-work about the temple. There was no iron about the temple, though we find David preparing for the temple iron for things of iron, Ch1 29:2. What those things were we are not told, but some of the things of brass are here described and the rest mentioned. I.

1Ki 7:43-45 The ten stands and their basins: see at 1Ki 7:27-37; 1Ki 7:44, the brazen sea: vid., 1Ki 7:23-26; lastly, 1Ki 7:45, the pots, etc., as at 1Ki 7:40. The Chethîb האהל is a mistake for האלּה (Keri). ממרט נהשׁת, of polished brass - accusative of the material governed by עשׂה.
