By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.

3. Through, or by, faith we understand, That is “We, by faith in God’s word which gives the record, understand, or know how the world was made.” This the heathens did not know by the light of reason, and yet they might have known this, as the Apostle declares in Romans 1:20.
