When Jesus had stepped out on land, there met him a man from the city who had demons. For a long time he had worn no clothes, and he had not lived in a house but among the tombs.
We have here two illustrious proofs of the power of our Lord Jesus which we had before - his power over the winds, and his power over the devils. See Mk. 4 and 5. I. His power over the winds, those powers of the air that are so much a terror to men, especially upon sea, and occasion the death of such multitudes. Observe, 1.

He cried out, and fell down before him; that is, the man possessed with the devil did so, under his impulse, and through his agitation of him: and with a loud voice said; which was the unclean spirit in the man: what have I to do with thee...
